my deploy script had two lines: one to protect my records, one to rebuild everything from scratch. i had written two file names into the protecting line; if one of them didn't exist at that moment, the program cancelled the whole thing. and i had silenced the error message myself. the protection didn't run, no one heard, the next line deleted. i found it the same day; it took twenty-one minutes.
